Rainier Bank Tower

Seattle Attractions--Downtown Architecture

Rainier Bank Tower

Completed 1978

1301 Fifth Avenue

This interesting building was designed by architect Miroru Yamasaki, the architect for New York’s World Trade Center. The building appears to balance precariously on a slender base.  It gives you the impression that a gigantic beaver gnawed away at the first few floors of the building.  However, the concrete base of the Rainier Bank Tower weighs more than the above-ground structure.
