INTRODUCTION

Water and Seattle are inextricably linked and the Seattle area’s rich history is tied to Elliott Bay and Puget Sound. The Argosy Cruises Harbor Cruise is an excellent activity for visitors and Seattle area residents.   The tour is a one hour, narrated tour that shows you the highlights of Seattle’s waterfront activities and gives you a brief history of Seattle and the water.

Argosy Cruises has been offering this cruise for many years. The cruise departs from Argosy’s terminal at Pier 55 and goes on an 8.5 mile circular route that travels counterclockwise around Elliott Bay.  You get to see all of the buildings and piers of the waterfront, dramatic views of downtown, the Port of Seattle Grain Terminal, Queen Anne Hill, the large Elliott Bay Marina below Magnolia Hill, the Olympic Mountains, and the operations of the busy Seattle shipping terminal.

Who Should Go?

I recommend the cruise for anyone that is visiting Seattle for two or more days.  It is also an excellent activity for newcomers to the Seattle area.  For Seattle residents who have never ventured into the harbor, the tour offers spectacular views of the Seattle area that you can’t get from shore.  In one hour, you can cover a lot of visual territory.

For photographers,  you can have a great time shooting excellent views of Seattle's waterfront, downtown buildings, grain terminal, Queen Anne Hill, and the machinery at the Port of Seattle shipping terminal.

Lady Mary Cruise Boat

The cruise boat "Lady Mary" is one of the boats used for the cruise. It is comfortable and can easily accomodate 175 guests.  You can sit inside on the main deck and enjoy the views without dealing with wind.  You can also venture up to the upper deck and either sit or stand to see the tour in the open.  Photographers will want to be on the upper deck so that they aren't shooting through glass.

RECOMMENDATION

I recommend the cruise for anyone that is visiting Seattle for two or more days.  It is also an excellent activity for newcomers to the Seattle area.  For Seattle residents who have never ventured into the harbor, the tour offers spectacular views of the Seattle area that you can’t get from shore.  In one hour, you can cover a lot of visual territory.
