Russell Investments Center View

Seattle has a few must see aerial viewpoints including the Space Needle, the Smith Tower, and the Volunteer Park Water Tower.  We can now add another required view to this list: the landscaped outdoor deck of the 17th floor of the Russell Investments Center.

Spectacular vistas and beautiful landscaping await the explorer that steps onto the 17th floor landscaped deck of the Russell Investments Center downtown.  This combination of magnificent views and landscaping adds up to one of Seattle’s best aerial views.

Join us as we walk around the observation deck and enjoy the views of Elliott Bay, the Olympics, the waterfront, Pike Place Market, the downtown buildings, and even Mt. Rainier.

The only direction with a completely blocked view is east.  Unlike the Space Needle, there are no security wires to constrain your views, no crowds, and no admission fee.

The deck features dramatic landscaping including wood flooring, decorative rocks, stonework, trees, and grasses.  The 17th floor has a small café and indoor seating.  They do not sell coffee.  However, you can stop at the Starbucks on the mezzanine above the lobby.  I found that this Starbucks tends to get long lines from the building’s tenants.  On the opposite side of Second Avenue from the Center’s main entrance , you can get a java at the Starbucks.
