Fuel Coffee
Seattle Attractions--Coffee Houses
610 19th Avenue North
Capitol Hill

A great neighborhood coffee house is convenient, has a welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent coffee, a limited offering of pastries and other light fare, and is an attractive place on the outside and the inside. A great view looking out the front windows also helps the ambience.
In conducting my periodic unscientific sampling of Seattle’s java dens, I heard from other coffee houses that you should try Fuel Coffee. Seattle baristas are like that—they will quickly recommend other places that brew and excellent cup of espresso.
I checked out the Fuel location on 19th Avenue on Capitol Hill. It is in a small business strip with old construction.
Fuel Coffee has three locations and its first location was this lovely shop on Capitol Hill that opened in 2005. The shop is in a small retail center on 19th Avenue and it fits into the old neighborhood of Capitol Hill like a glove. The art deco outdoor chairs add to the charm of the location.

The Fuel Coffee sign on the outside is reminiscent of a mid-20th century gas pump sign and it sets a retro tone for this attractive coffee house. The interior is nicely appointed with art from local artists, is well lighted, and you have a really nice view through the windows of a busy Capitol Street.
Fuel Coffee offers Café Vita brand coffee and their Americano was really delicious. For many more calories, you can sample their Mighty O Donuts. Dani Cone, the owner of Fuel also owns High Five Pie and you can purchase delicious slices of this pie to munch on while you sip your espresso. I love marionberries and the marionberry pie was mouthwatering.
The staff was extremely friendly and made me feel at home in their café.

Summary—I give a hearty recommendation for this coffee house. This is one coffee shop that simply says come in, order coffee, and relax. It is another delightful place in Seattle to stop and enjoy an espresso. Check out the High Five Pie as well.
Fuel has two more locations:
- Wallingford—1705 N. 45th Street
- Montlake—2300 24th Avenue East
