Exploring First Hill
Seattle Tourist Attractions--Seattle's Beautiful Neighborhoods
The historic John Alden Apartments
First Hill is a small section of Seattle sandwiched between the Capitol Hill area and downtown. It was one of the early residential areas of Seattle and the residents erected large homes, social clubs, and churches. Over time, the residential feel of the area was transformed as the homes were torn down and replaced by medical buildings. The area is called "Pill Hill" because of the cluster of medical clinics and the three large hospitals that now dominate the First Hill landscape.
First Hill has several areas of beauty and interest for the Seattle explorer. It is home to the lovely Seattle University, a nice art museum, impressive historic churches, and a small but lovely residential area.
