The Statue of Lenin
Seattle tourist attractions--exploring the Fremont neighborhood
The impressive statue of a determined man strolling through life overlooks the intersection of Fremont Place in the heart of Fremont. When you discover that it is a statue of Lenin, then you realize that he fits in perfectly with Fremont's eccentricity. The statue was purchased by a local Seattle artist who was visiting Slovakia and brought it back to his studio. The artist died before he could resell the statue for scrap. The statue became a white elephant and it somehow ended up as a citizen of Fremont. Figure this one out.
