The Seattle Aquarium is the most popular attraction on the waterfront and is Seattle's third most popular paid attraction with over 800,000 visitors annually including over 35,000 school children. It is the seventh largest aquarium in the U.S. by attendance. The Aquarium has over 90 employees and receives the services of over 700 volunteers.
The Aquarium was operated by the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department until June of 2010 when its operation was turned over to the non-profit Seattle Aquarium Society.
The focus of the Seattle Aquarium is on the marine life of the Puget Sound area.
The Aquarium has a cafe, a espresso station, a large gift shop, and well-marked restrooms.

The Aquarium is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The last admission is at 5:00 p.m
The Aquarium is closed on Christmas Day.
