Landscaping in Cal Anderson Park
In 2009, Forbes Magazine named Cal Anderson Park as one of the 12 best city parks in the U.S. Once you visit the park, it is hard to argue with this recognition.
This is one of the recent master strokes by the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Seattle. The 7.4 acre park was the product of a major renovation of a City park. A 4 acre water reservoir was covered and significant features were added to a small park to repurpose the area into a major city park. The expanded park opened in 2005.
A Walking Trail at Dusk in Cal Anderson Park
Strolling around Cal Anderson Park's campus is a delightful activity. The lovely landscaping, the fountain and other water features, the promenade paths lighted by beautiful park lamps, and the views of people playing and resting in the park make for a great stroll. I went for a casual visit to the park and spend a memorable hour savoring the beauty of this park and taking a lot of photos.
Photographers can have a delightful time wandering around the park and firing off shots of the many scenes it offers.
Cal Anderson Park is only one block from Broadway (see the page "people watching on Broadway").
